ULKAN, as a leading Couplings manufacturer from Germany, held the Drive Train Propulsion seminar for the 3rd time on August 14th, 2018 at the Majapahit Hotel Surabaya. After two years in a row being held in Jakarta, this time the seminar took place in Surabaya as one of the Industry and Shipyard hubs in Indonesia.
Mr. Anis Abdurahman Chief Representative of Vulkan – Indonesia Office stated that “we must bring the manufacturers and the users to discuss in one table on a technical level”, therefore such event is necessary.
This seminar which was initiated by VULKAN Coupling is the only Propulsion Drive Train seminar in South East Asia. Through this seminar, VULKAN creates a discussion platform where the manufacturer can share their latest technologies and innovations for the Indonesian marine industry. On the other hand, the user can tell the challenges and requirement for their needs.
Together with IPERINDO (Indonesian Shipbuilding and Offshore Association), this year VULKAN chose Tug Boat Application as the subject of the seminar.
Mr. Muhammad Aziz, Head of Cooperation and Promotion Division of IPERINDO, as a keynote speaker talking about the New Direction for the Development of the Indonesian Shipyard Industry. From the Engine manufacturer this year was represented by Cummins Asia Pacific. Mr. Eugene Chan as Business Development Manager Southeast Asia introduced the Cummins Engine QSK95 model. Mr. Tan Chin Beng from Twin Disc Far East Pte. Ltd. delivered a presentation about VETH Propulsion System, which recently became a part of Twin Disc.
Besides guest speakers from Component Manufacturers, VULKAN also invited speaker from Naval Architect the Terafulk Megantara Design. Indonesian Ship Design Technology Capability is the subject which was raised by Mr. Tri Haryanto, as Technical Director. He delivered project references that had been worked out successfully. This company applies state of the art of software technology and appoints experienced engineers to carry out their projects.
The seminar was warmly welcomed by the attendees from 27 companies, who are from the shipyard, shipping industry, component manufacturers, distributors, naval architect, universities, classification bureaus and the media. By receiving the positive responses from Indonesia's shipping industry players of this seminar, VULKAN Couplings is planning to organize again with actual subject in 2019.
