In order to support its members in regards to import activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, EKONID, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (鈥DJBC鈥), held an Online Roundtable with the title "Exemptions from import duty, excise and / or import tax during the COVID-19 Pandemic" on May 14, 2020. The Roundtable  aimed at promulgating the various new regulations and incentives on import activities issued by the Indonesian government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 29 participants from 20 different companies attended this Online Roundtable, which was done using the application Microsoft Teams. The speaker in this Online Roundtable was Mr. R. Syarif Hidayat, the Director of International and Inter-Agency Customs of the DJBC. He was accompanied by 11 customs officials from the Directorate of Customs Facilities and the Directorate of Customs Technical of the DJBC.

The presentation in this roundtable mainly discussed Finance Minister Regulation Number 34 of 2020 which affects more than 73 types of goods needed for responding to the COVID-19 impact, as well as the categories of companies that are eligible to obtain customs facilities, and how the audit process works for companies that are importing goods needed for COVID-19 purposes.

He also informed the participants about the development of the realization of these customs facilities and commented on whether there were plans from the government to expand these customs facilities to other types of goods. In addition, he also explained about the relaxation on regulations for KITE (Export-Oriented Import Facilities) and Bonded Zone.

In this Online Roundtable, participants also discussed directly with Mr. Hidayat, as well as other customs officials, regarding the obstacles they face in importing goods. EKONID hopes that the material presented and the discussions had in this Online Roundtable can be useful for its participants' business activities.
