The German sensor and automation company wants to be present to make “Making Indonesia 4.0” a success.

On August 3, 2023, German sensor and automation company ifm electronic inaugurated its new office in Sentral Senayan II in South Jakarta.

First established in the country as PT ifm electronic Indonesia on October 10, 2022, the company has, in the past 10 months, recruited new employees and has been preparing for the opening of its new office.

Simon Evans, Chief Sales Officer ifm electronics, said the company, which was founded in 1969 in Essen, Germany, was ready to make the vision of Indonesia 4.0 a reality in the Indonesian industry and that the presence of ifm electronic as a leader in the automation industry in Indonesia was an answer to President Joko Widodo's vision.

"The reason we chose an office in Indonesia, as [Indonesian] President [Joko] Widodo said in Hannover, is because of Indonesia's vision to become the 10th largest economy in the world," he said.

In particular, Jakarta was chosen as the location for the branch office in Indonesia due to the availability of qualified human resources, as well as the fact that Jakarta was nearby the various industries served by ifm electronic.

In the industrial world, ifm electronics has various industry specialties, such as the food and beverage industry, automotive, mobile machines, water, logistics, ports, mining, and many more.

In Indonesia, ifm would focus more on the food and beverage industry as well as the automotive industry. The latter was considered potentially lucrative due to the large size of the market.

In line with the vision of Making Indonesia 4.0, PT ifm electronic Indonesia also plans on opening branches in various parts of Indonesia as the company grows.

"We see Indonesia as a big and potential market," explained Jhon Afri Cryman, National Sales Manager of PT ifm electronic Indonesia.

Seeking talents

Mr. Cryman added that PT ifm electronic Indonesia plans to grow in other areas, for example in East Java, Kalimantan, or also Sumatra and that, in consolidating this vision, PT ifm electronic Indonesia continues to strive to find talented young people.

“In the recruitment process, to become a world-standard company, we have our own terms and work standards. We hope that the qualifications of technicians in Indonesia are on par with the qualifications of other technicians abroad," said Sarah Bruehl, Senior Manager of Organizational, HR, Sales Processes ifm electronic gmbh.

Sarah added that ifm electronic also opens opportunities for young talents to grow and develop together. Ifm electronic itself has its own anticipation of how to manage young talents who still need experience and are also hungry for new challenges. For this reason, ifm electronic will continue to provide them with self-development, abilities and new skills.
