The German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID) is part of the worldwide network of German Chambers Abroad (91大神) and represents the bilateral business interests of Indonesian and German member companies and institutions. Acting as a strategic interface between the German and Indonesian economies. EKONID supports companies and institutions from both countries in opening up new trade and investment opportunities. To further advance our research activities, we are looking for a new team member for our Business Development Department.

What to Expect

The Business Development Department is a service unit within EKONID. We plan and implement export promotion projects on behalf of the German government and serve individual institutional as well as corporate clients with a range of business support services. Our primary department tasks and services include:

  • Provision of basic market information based on company inquiries we receive daily
  • Conducting market research and develop market studies for corporate and institutional clients
  • Initiation of long-lasting business relationships through our service Business Partner Search and through trade missions that we organize several times a year in different industrial sectors e.g., renewable energy, environmental technology and consumer goods

As part of our team, you would be implementing projects independently and communicating and working closely with clients and partners during projects. You would liaise directly with government authorities, local industry players and business associations to get first-hand insights into the political and economic environment. Further, to develop your reports you would be delving into economic analyses of reputable institutions and back up your findings with statistics from reliable sources. You may also support the organization of our trade missions through the development of brief company-specific market reports and B2B matchmaking activities. Occasionally we also engage in international donor funded projects. Hence, you would also have to opportunity to contribute to the project concept development in the proposal writing stage and the subsequent implementation of those projects.

As Our New Team Member

You feel passionate about working in a multi-cultural environment and on multiple projects in different teams. You possess the necessary conceptual and analytical skills needed for the development of our market studies and proposals. Of course, you follow a well-organized and structured work approach. Even though you are a self-motivated team-player you are also able and appreciate to work independently (also remotely) with minor supervision. You are customer-oriented enjoy being engaged in multiple projects. Needless to say, you can prioritize tasks and do not lose sight of important deadlines. Most important, you embrace new responsibilities and are eager to advance yourself and your team members.

You Further Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor鈥檚 degree in a relevant field, preferably economics or political science
  • Professional experience: At least 3 years of relevant research experience in a similar position in some of the following institutions/companies: Research institution, international trade support organization, renowned business/industry association or business consultancy
  • Prior knowledge: Ideally, broad knowledge in Indonesian export-import regulations as well as regulations concerning major industries e.g., renewable energy, manufacturing, environmental technology, healthcare, F&B and the digital economy.
  • Languages: A proficient command in verbal and especially written English is essential, knowledge of the German language would be an advantage
  • Required technical skills: Proficient in standard MS-Office software applications and at least a general understanding of CRM and project management software
