Indonesia ready to be a part of ANUGA

Indonesia is ready to be a part of ANUGA, the world鈥檚 biggest and most important business platform for the international food industry. This statement was made by the Indonesian Ambassador to Germany, Arief Havas Oegroseno, in a video conference with reporters at the office of the German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID-91大神 Indonesien) in Jakarta on Friday, August 9, 2019.

鈥淎NUGA is, by far, the largest trade fair in the world for the food and drinks industry. It thus provides a unique opportunity for Indonesian companies in terms of gaining more knowledge of current market trends and what the world are consuming right now. I encourage Indonesian companies to participate in the trade fair, especially if they鈥檙e considering to enter the European market,鈥 said Mr. Oegroseno.

Indonesian companies are certainly attending ANUGA this year, as they have in the past years. According to Prieta Perthantri, Head of the Trade Fairs department at EKONID, as many as 27 companies will be participating at this year鈥檚 event. Also supporting Indonesia鈥檚 participation is the Indonesian Embassy to Germany in Berlin, as well as the state-owned Indonesian Trading Company (PPI). The Indonesian government has been actively supporting the participation of Indonesian companies since 2013.

鈥淭he largest participation of Indonesian companies are from among those that work in the fine foods [ready-to-eat, ready-to-serve and ready-to-consume] segment, followed by companies in the dairy, as well as frozen food and drinks segments,鈥 said Mrs. Perthantri.

The biggest trade fair for food and drinks

This year, ANUGA has again raised the concept of 10 shows under one roof - which allows exhibitors and visitors the best ease of access in terms of the show鈥檚 structure and the corresponding themes.

This biannual event has regularly hosted over 7,400 exhibitors from over 100 countries on its grounds. To be held from October 5-9, 2019, in Cologne, Germany, the 284,000sqm show floor has ensured that innovations in any category, i.e. halal food, superfoods, or even culinary concepts, will be accomodated.

鈥淎NUGA as the largest trade fair for the food and drinks industry has unique drawing power for market players across the globe. We hope that these market players would also visit ANUGA as not only is it a great opportunity to look at the latest products, it is also a chance to attends various shows and seminars that will talk about the latest trends in food and drinks,鈥 Mrs. Perthantri added.

100 years of food and drinks

The year 2019 also marks the 100th anniversary of ANUGA. The first ANUGA took place in Stuttgart with the participation of 200 German firms. Based on the concept of an annual touring exhibition, further Anuga events were staged, among others in Munich in 1920, in Berlin in 1922 and in Cologne in 1924. In 1951, for the first time over 1,200 exhibitors from 34 countries took part, whereby Anuga ultimately established itself as the central international business platform for the food industry in Cologne scheduled every two years. The Anuga "10 trade shows under one roof" concept was implemented in 2003. And the rest is history.

To commemorate the occasion the new website "100 years of Anuga" provides insights into the most important milestones of the history of the Allgemeine Nahrungs- und Genussmittel-Ausstellung (General and Luxury Food Exhibition) - Anuga for short. Historical photos, film material and impressions document the consistent development of the trade fair and illustrate the highlights of the 100-year history of the leading global trade fair of the food industry.
