Trade Promotion in the Field of Textile Machinery a success

11.11.2022

From October 9 to 14, 2022, EKONID – on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) – carried out Trade Promotion Indonesia – for German Companies in the Field of Textile Machinery in West and Central Java, Indonesia. As part of the market development program for SMEs 2022, this event was held with support from the German VDMA Textile Machinery Association, the Indonesian Textile Association (API), and Indonesian trade fair organizer PERAGA Expo.

Participating in this event were seven German companies from the areas of mechanical and plant engineering, components, accessories, and software for the manufacture of textile materials. They cover a broad portfolio of twisting and cabling machines, warp knitting machines, contactless application systems for product optimization and surface finishing, as well as post-processing machines and technologies for weaving control and web inspection.

EKONID warmly welcomed the German delegations in Bandung, West Java, with a dinner and pre-event briefing on Sunday, October 9, 2022. This was followed by a country briefing in the following day, during which representatives from EKONID, the German Embassy, and Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) presented the current political and economic situations in Indonesia and its relations to the textile industry. In Bandung, the delegations also got a chance to visit two Indonesian textile companies and held a symposium, in which more than 150 attendees from the Indonesian textile industry were present.

From October 12 to 14, the event continued and took place in Surakarta, Central Java. There, three factory tours were organized at Indonesia’s largest textile manufacturers. In addition, another symposium was held and attended by 70 participants. This was also followed by B2B matchmaking meetings with Indonesian textile players.

The textile industry is one of the priority sectors of the Ministry of Industry's Making Indonesia 4.0 initiative. It is also a sector where German technology continues to gain good reputation. By addressing the entire process – from yarn production to the finished textile products – the event has given a comprehensive situation of the Indonesian textile industry, as well as product information from German companies, to its participants. It is expected that new business opportunities between the German and Indonesian textile industries would open and contribute to a stronger partnership between the two countries.
