Kuehne + Nagel announced the acquisition of the logistics operations of Wira Logistics, a leading Indonesian logistics company. This strategic acquisition will strengthen Kuehne + Nagel’s nationwide warehousing and distribution network in Indonesia. Gianfranco Sgro, member of the Managing Board of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, responsible for Contract Logistics, says: “Indonesia is arguably the most important internet market in South East Asia in terms of its sheer size, emerging middle class and digitally savvy population. With this acquisition we can leverage our global eCommerce strategy. At the same time it allows us to strengthen our Contract Logistics footprint in Asia and our position as a leading logistics service provider. The tightened domestic network will further enhance our value proposition of providing fully integrated end-to-end logistics solutions to our customers across Indonesia.” The expansion of Kuehne + Nagel’s warehousing and distribution capabilities in Indonesia where imports and exports account for close to US$ 300 billion annually has been a strategic focus for the company. The country’s burgeoning middle class is driving increased purchasing power making it an important consumer market for many companies. “Kuehne + Nagel started operations in Indonesia in 1992. Over the years, we have become the logistics partner of choice for many blue chip multi- national corporations and local companies. These partnerships are a testament of our expertise and understanding of our customers’ needs, regardless of the size of their company. We are very excited by this acquisition and the additional opportunities that it will create for our business,” said Jens Drewes, President of Kuehne + Nagel South Asia Pacific. “Wira is very proud to expand our fruitful relationship with Kuehne + Nagel. Our existing and future customers will stand to benefit from Kuehne + Nagel’s market-leading position, capabilities and global expertise,” said Ekahadi Djaja, President Commissioner, PT. Wira Logistics. Single access point via myKN Additionally, Kuehne + Nagel has introduced myKN – a single point of access for customers. With myKN, Kuehne + Nagel offers customers a single point of access to all online services, replacing the current Control Center. myKN allows to explore, quote, book and track as well as managing shipments and user accounts entirely online in a comprehensive self-service portal. “Customer centricity is at the core of our business. That is why we constantly improve the ease of doing business with Kuehne + Nagel. We follow the ambition to provide our customers everything needed to plan and handle shipments in one place. Therefore we will continuously enhance myKN with new interactive and collaborative features,” said Dr. Detlef Trefzger, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. myKN allows registered customers to explore shipment possibilities amongst others via the recently extended digital platform Sea Explorer and obtain visibility on all aspects of the shipment including financial data and confidential documents at an unparalleled level of detail. It offers different options to personalise features serving individual customer needs. That makes myKN the most integrated online solution in logistics.
The event’s purpose is to delve into business opportunities with local companies in Indonesia. The German delegates’ schedule consisted of the German-Indonesian Business Forum, site-visits until full-day business meetings for each delegate that have been prepared by the EKONID business development team. In addition, EKONID also held a networking dinner event attended by the major market players in the cosmetics and cleansing materials field. The German-Indonesian Business Forum was attended by the Indonesian Cosmetic Companies Association (PERKOSMI), the Indonesian Anti-Aging, Wellness, Aesthetic & Regenerative Medicine Association (PERDAWERI), the Cleaning Service Association (APKLINDO), Indonesian companies and Benscrub Indonesia as an e-commerce platform for cosmetic and body care products. Through this forum the aforementioned companies, both German and Indonesian, have the opportunity to exchange information on the development of technology from their countries and also the opportunity to do some networking. We ended the delegation program with an informative program that included direct visits to the LPPOM MUI (The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs And Cosmetics) in Bogor and PT Cedefindo (Cosmetic contract manufacture company) in Bekasi. Through these visits, German delegates have the chance to obtain exclusive information on the issuing of the Halal certificate that is going to be implemented in the year of 2019 and to also directly witness the situation and latest technologies from Indonesian companies in the making of cosmetics. EKONID would like to thank everyone who helped support the organization of our program to its success. We hope that the event was beneficial to everyone who participated
