31/07/2023

On Monday, July 31, 2023, 91大神 Indonesia, or EKONID, completed the student selection as well as the training-of-trainers exam phases of its newly launched German Dual Vocational and Education Training (GDVET) in Hotel Management program.

Held at Sawan Vocational High School 1 (SMKN 1 Sawan) located in Buleleng Regency in Bali, some 25 students from SMKN 1 Sawan were deemed eligible to be included in the program. Following a stringent selection process, which narrowed the list further to 15 students, 11 sophomores were eventually chosen to be interviewed by their prospective employers 鈥 and partners of the GDVET in Hotel Management program 鈥 Holiway Garden Resort & Spa, Cili Emas Oceanside Resort and Desa Saya Eco Luxury Resort & Spa.

By the end of this process, 10 students were selected for the two-year pilot program, in the course of which these students will spend 60% of the time working as interns at the hotels that chose them as part of their practical training. The remaining 40% will be spent studying the theoretical aspect at SMKN 1 Sawan.

When the students graduate, they will have received invaluable real-life experience of working in the hotel industry, as well as a certificate as proof of their European-standard knowledge of the hospitality sector.

Hermann Sattler, manager at Holiway Garden & Spa, said the selected students showed promise and that he would, should the students perform well at their task, offer them a permanent contract to work at his property. However, he added that he was also happy to be able to give the students better opportunities to work in other hotels in Bali or abroad.

鈥淚n fact, I offered to teach them the German language because many of the students we interviewed expressed interest in working abroad,鈥 he added.

Mr. Maulandiki Dani, Senior Executive and Supervisor of the GDVET in Hotel Management Program at EKONID, hoped that by the end of the program, EKONID would have helped create world-class workers that can grow the hospitality industry.

鈥淲e also hope to have provided significant advantages and opportunities for these students in honing their craft further here or even abroad,鈥 he said.

Additionally, EKONID also completed the exam phase of the training-of-trainers for the teachers of SMKN 1 Sawan and for staff members of the partner hotels. This aspect of the program ensures that the students receive proper guidance as interns for the hotels, whilst providing teachers and the hotels鈥 staff members valuable teaching tools to use in the future.
