Volkswagen gave the brand’s pre-eminent model its Indonesian debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Motor Show (GIIAS) 2018, which offers a number of slight upgrades in the exterior compared to the standard model. The New Volkwagen Tiguan was first introduced in Indonesia in last year’s GIIAS. The New Tiguan is the first SUV from Volkswagen Group that employs the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform, which will supposedly improve all of Tiguan’s initial offering, not unlike the more sporty and charismatic look this new model now features.
A number of new accessoris have been added to its exterior, namely a silver metallic skid plate on the right and left of the car, as well as on the front. A black glossy front lower garnish was also added to the left and right side of the car’s bumper. As a finishing touch, the New Tiguan VRS now sports a silver metallic glass cover on the side rear view mirrors.
“The New Volkswagen Tiguan is the perfect car for Indonesia’s families. With all of its superior features and spacious cabin, Tiguan should provide the comfort their owners want. Especially in the New Tiguan VRS model introduced today, its charisma as a sporty, family SUV, is even stronger with all the accessories on offer,” said Andrew Nasuri, President Director of Garuda Mataram Motor (GMM), the sole agent for VW and Audi cars in Indonesia at GIIAS 2018 in Tangerang, West Java.
The wide dimensions of the New Volkswagen Tiguan does allow for ample cabin capacity. As an example, the car’s baggage space of 615 liters can be expanded up to 1,655 liters by folding the second row seats. Cabin comfort can be also be further improved by, among others, using the on-board ambient lights.
The engine of the New Volkswagen Tiguan VRS still uses the 1.4 TSI engine, which produces a peak power of150 bhp and 250 Nm of Torque under its 6-speed automotic transmission, double clutch plus triptonic system. This allows the car to go from 0 to 100 in 9.2 seconds, with a top speed of 202 km/h. The New Volkswagen Tiguan also sports an Adaptive Chassis Conrol system for the three driving modes of normal, sporty or comfort, which allows its shock suspension to adapt electronically to any of the three modes.
At GIIAS 2018, GMM also provided an option for the Turny Evo seat by Autoadapt, a company that produces automotive accessories for the difabled. The Turny Evo seat can be spun and lowered, making it easier for the difabled to use the car. The Volkswagen Tiguan VRS is priced at Rp 630 million off-the-road and is available in deep black pearlescent, pure white, indium grey metallic or tungsten silver metallic.
